Stone Fruit
Egg tempera on masonite and pine panel, handwoven frame using stained poplar, Peruvian Highland wool yarn, and organic cotton cord, 9" x 11", 2020
This work is part of a series that deconstructs and reassembles the facets, objects, memories, patterns, and textures of selected rooms found in the homes of my upbringing.
‘Stone Fruit’ is a portrait of the dining room and kitchen of my childhood home. The perspective of this piece faces the kitchen, while I hold up a mirror to reflect the opposite side of the room; the dining room. The woven frame depicts a pattern of a tablecloth my parents kept and used throughout my childhood to this day.
The egg tempera medium is a permanent painting medium mixed by hand using dry pigments, water, and egg yolk.
