Biography
Quilla Nina is an argentine artist of quechua descent. Her art name means “moon” and “fire” in quechua. Quilla graduated from Visual Arts in Universidad del Museo Social Argentino (UMSA) in Buenos Aires.. She participated in several collective exhibitions in Buenos Aires and other cities in Argentina. In 2014 she was awarded with the 1st prize in “Salón Joven'' in Sívori Museum. During 2014 and 2015 she participated in street art events painting murals in Lima, Peru and Recife, Brazil. Her last solo exhibitions were “Planisferios” in Honorable Concejo de San Isidro (2019) and “Viaje concéntrico” in Galería El Quetzal (2017). In March 2022 Quilla started her NFT journey launching her first collection in Teia platform “Chicha Princess”. This collection participated in the event “Vibrant NFT '' in Museo Castagnino Macro in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina. Quilla currently lives in Buenos Aires province working as a full-time artist and teaching art lessons online.
Artist Statement
Quilla Nina’s work explores concepts of the andean cosmovision through symbolism and a vibrant color palette inspired in peruvian textiles and traditional clothes. Deities embodied in rivers and mountains, the relationship between human beings and land, the cyclical perception of time and the different planes of existance in the andean world are recurrent themes in her artwork.
