Démarche artistique
Mon travail porte sur l’intimité, les interactions, les écosystèmes non humains, les dispositifs de médiation comme extensions et la perception du langage ou des images à travers les écrans. J’oriente ma pratique de manière affirmative, critique et propositionnelle. Utilisant diverses formes et techniques comme la vidéo, l’installation, la sculpture, l’impression, l’animation 3D et la réalité virtuelle ou augmentée, je questionne la proximité des surfaces technologiques et organiques dans un contexte posthumain. Le silicone, la porcelaine, les images numériques, le tissu et la lumière sont des matériaux pertinents dans mon travail.
La méthode que j’utilise se nourrit de la science-fiction féministe et de son potentiel émancipateur. Inspirés par des penseurs tels que Donna Haraway et Rosi Braidotti, mes projets font appel à la fabulation spéculative ; des situations imaginées accompagnées d‘appareils fictifs, des extensions pour les êtres humains et non-humains qui ouvrent un dialogue inter-espèces afin de réfléchir à la façon dont nous nous adaptons au système dans lequel nous vivons. Mon travail est multidisciplinaire et me permet un apprentissage continu de nouvelles techniques, où le DIY et l’open source occupent un rôle important.

My work focuses on intimacy, interactions, non-human ecosystems, mediation devices as extensions and perception of language or images through screens. I orient my practice in an affirmative, critical and propositional way. Using various forms and techniques such as video installation, sculpture, printing, 3D animation and virtual or augmented reality, I question the proximity of technological and organic surfaces in a posthuman context. Silicone, porcelain, digital images, fabric and light are currently fabric and light are relevant materials in my work.
The method I use is nourished by feminist science fiction and its emancipatory potential. Inspired by thinkers such as Donna Haraway and Rosi Braidotti, my projects use speculative fabulation; imagined situations imagined situations accompanied by fictitious devices, extensions for human and human and non-human beings that open up a cross-species dialogue to reflect on how we adapt to the system in which we live. My work is multidisciplinary and allows me to continuously learn new techniques, where DIY and open source play an important role.
Biographie
Marie-Eve Levasseur (*1985) vit et travaille actuellement à Montréal. Elle a obtenu un baccalauréat en arts visuels et médiatiques à l'Université du Québec à Montréal (2008) et une maîtrise (2014), ainsi qu’un diplôme de post-maîtrise (Meisterschülerabschluss, en 2016) à l'Académie des Arts Visuels de Leipzig, en Allemagne.
Ses œuvres ont été présentées, entre autres, à Berlin, Londres, Paris, Hong Kong et Zurich. En 2020, elle est récipiendaire d‘une bourse de création du ministère de la Culture de Saxe en Allemagne, et en 2021 d‘une bourse de recherche et création du Conseil des arts du Canada.

Marie-Eve Levasseur (*1985) currently lives and works in Montreal. She received a BFA from the Université du Québec à Montréal (2008) and an MA (2014), as well as a post-master's degree (Meisterschülerabschluss, in 2016) from the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig, Germany.
Her work has been shown in Berlin, London, Paris, Hong Kong and Zurich, among other places. In 2020, she is the recipient of a creation grant from the Ministry of Culture of Saxony in Germany, and in 2021 of a research and creation grant from the Canada Council for the Arts.
