Quilling is a traditionally craft and hobby based practice that manipulates, weaves and spins thin sheets of paper for decorative purposes, often 2D compositions. Popularized in 18th century England, it remains a niche practiced to this day.

A craft I practiced throughout my childhood, I have now been using quilling as a medium to recreate ceramic pieces from my paternal grandfather’s vintage Wedgwood collection; cherished ornamental objects he took to collecting in the hundreds in the 1950’s. This particular model features a Jasperware Four Seasons Bell in pink and a Jasperware Christening Spoon in pink.

My intention in this work was to safeguard the familial lineage preceding me and the keepsakes I have now inherited. These quilled objects served as a means to archive and preserve the collective memory and tradition of past familial relics.
